Innovative Medicines Initiative is on the way to be fully operative by the beginning of 2008
In May the European Commission presented the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), one of two Joint Technology Initiatives, to the Competitiveness Council. Organised as a public private partnership between the European Commission and European Pharmaceutical Companies, IMI will invest € 2 billion to support the development of new tools, methods and knowledge to overcome major bottlenecks in the drug discovery and development process.

EFMC welcomes two new member societies
At the annual meeting, this year held in Portoroz, the council of EFMC unanimously accepted the application of the Section for Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Chemistry, German Pharmaceutical Society, and the Medicinal Chemistry Group, Portuguese Chemical Society, to become Member Societies of EFMC.
