Dear Colleagues,
EFMC is undergoing a reshaping of its structure, with the aim of more efficiently responding and reacting to the tasks related to communication, promotion, and governance, thus providing improved service to the community.
In this issue of MedChemWatch we present again the new organisation layout, and we remind to you all that positions in the working groups and teams are open, and anyone who would like to contribute is very welcome and only needs to get in touch with a member of the Executive Committee for further information. EFMC strongly relies on the voluntary contribution of individuals from different member societies, who are expected to bring in new ideas and their experience.
I also would like to remember you that EFMC uses several communication channels for dissemination of its activity, including social media like LinkedIn and Twitter. We encourage you to use these channels to promote debate and to comment on the various activities.
In this issue of MedChemWatch, Phil Jones presents the activity of the European Lead Factory, an IMI funded open innovation resource for academia, industry and SMEs. European Lead Factory offers an unique industrial quality collection of compounds to be screened against innovative targets.
And finally, but not less importantly, 2014 is the year of the EFMC-ISMC, which will be held in Lisbon, Portugal, September 7-11. EFMC-ISMC is the largest medicinal chemistry meeting which usually attracts between 1200 and 1400 participants, from industry and academia.The 2014 edition will continue the tradition established by these biennial symposia and will cover drug discovery advances in the major therapeutic areas, including neglected diseases, CNS disorders, inflammation, metabolic disorders, and oncology.
