The European Federation for Medicinal Chemistry (EFMC) is an independent association representing medicinal chemistry societies in Europe. Its objective is to advance the science of medicinal chemistry by promoting cooperation and networking, by providing training and mentoring, by rewarding scientific excellence, and by facilitating communication and influencing stakeholders.

  • 26th National Meeting on Medicinal Chemistry (XXVI NMMC) & 12th Young Medicinal Chemists Symposium

    July 16-19, 2019   Milano, Italy

The XXVI edition of the National Meeting on Medicinal Chemistry (XXVI NMMC 2019) of the Division of Medicinal Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (Divisione di Chimica Farmaceutica - Società Chimica Italiana, DCF-SCI) will be held in Milan on the occasion of the 40th anniversary from the establishment of the DCF-SCI.

The XXVI NMMC, which continues a long-standing tradition of excellent science in the major research areas of medicinal chemistry, will bring together scientists from industry, academia and government institutions across Europe and throughout the world. The meeting will create a forum for in-depth, informed discussions, regarding both basic science and applications in medicinal chemistry.

As in the last editions, the meeting will be joint with the 12th Young Medicinal Chemists Symposium “Nuove Prospettive in Chimica Farmaceutica” (NPCF12), mainly directed to graduate, post-graduate, PhD students and young researchers operating in Academia or Industry.

The XXVI NMMC will start on July 16th 2019 with the Registration Desk and the Opening Ceremony at the Aula Magna of the University of Milan – Via Festa del Perdono 7, and will continue there from 17th to 19th. From 1958, the University is based in the “Ca’ Granda”, the name once used to indicate the huge “Ospedale Maggiore”, the biggest hospital in Milan until 1939. The “Ca’ Granda”, located in downtown Milan, is a beautiful example of Lombard Renaissance architecture.

The Scientific Program, organized in two parallel sessions, will consist of oral presentations (plenary and keynote lectures) and a limited number of short communications. Special sessions will be devoted to poster presentations.

The multidisciplinary scientific program will be of interest to medicinal chemists, biologists and clinicians involved in drug research and development. The main therapeutic areas will be covered by the XXVI NMMC and NPCF12, among them oncology, immune-oncology, infectious diseases, neurodegenerative diseases, cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, metabolic diseases, rare and neglected diseases. In the frame of these general areas of interest, the scientific sessions will include plenary lectures and key notes, oral/flash and poster presentations, focusing on the following main topics:

    • First disclosure
    • New mechanisms,  targets and proof of concept studies.
    • Repurposing
    • New modalities in drug discovery
    • Omics applied to the identification of biomarkers, target identification and validation
    • Nutraceuticals and Nutragenomics
    • DMPK & ADMET
    • Drug Design & Structural biology
    • Biophysics and analytics in drug discovery
    • New synthetic strategies in medicinal chemistry
    • Cheminformatics
    • Biological Drugs

The scientific community is cordially invited to actively contribute to this scientific event, organized under the auspices of the University of Milan in our more than two thousand years old city, Mediolanum, which became a metropolis at the beginning of the 4th century B.C. Milan, which hosted the Universal Expo in 2015, is world-renowned as one of the capitals of innovation, science and art-based events, finance and business, opera, design and fashion. Together with a stimulating scientific program, all participants will enjoy the exciting city atmosphere.
