XXIV National Meeting in Medicinal Chemistry/NPCF10 - September 11-14, 2016 - Perugia, Italy
The XXIV NMMC offers an exciting chance to debate future changes and to provide topical coverage of key disciplines, and to explore for cooperation and collaborations. Moreover, this meeting will be joint with the 10th Young Medicinal Chemists Symposium “Nuove Prospettive in Chimica Farmaceutica” (NPCF10), directed to graduate, post-graduate, PhD students and young researchers operating in University or Industry.
The program will include Plenary and Keynote Lectures, as well as oral and poster presentations. Participation of young researchers, both from Industry and University, will be strongly facilitated by low registration fee and fair lodging possibility.
Great opportunities to meet colleagues in informal discussions will be made easy by an attractive location, taking advantage of the features of Perugia: a city offering a multitude of cultural, historical and artistic attractions, all at walking distance from the Symposium venue.
A number of about 400 delegates (both from University and Industry) from Italy and other countries are expected to attend the Symposia.
The scientific programme will include:
- three days of scientific presentations;
- plenary lectures of eminent international scientists;
- parallel sessions with keynote, oral and flash communications;
- poster sessions;
- an exhibition by companies working in the field.
Frontiers in Antibiotic Drug Discovery (FiADD) - September, 14-15 2016 - Stockholm, Sweden
The symposium is organized jointly by the Medicinal Chemistry Section of the Swedish Pharmaceutical Society and ENABLE, one of the projects in the Innovative Medicines Initiative ND4BB, to showcase the future and opportunities for antibiotic drug discovery in a stimulating environment. It is also designed to provide plenty of opportunities to meet other delegates, renew friendships and foster new contacts.
This symposium should be highly interesting for scientists, representatives from SMEs and the pharmaceutical industry working in the field of antibacterial drug discovery. The aims are to look into the future, at where and how new antibiotics will be discovered, and to discuss the challenges that need to be addressed in developing them. The lectures will be given by leading international scientists in the field. There will also be a poster session where we encourage scientists and company representatives to present and pitch their latest antibacterial research.

The Nauta Chair 2016 has been appointed to Herbert Waldmann, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology and Professor of Organic Chemistry at the TU Dortmund University (Germany).
The Nauta Foundation (Stichting Prof. Dr. W. Th. Nauta Fonds) installed the Nauta Chair in 1992 to award outstanding researchers in Medicinal Chemistry and related fields. The Amsterdam Institute for Molecules, Medicines and Systems of the VU University announces that the Nauta Chair 2016 has been appointed to Herbert Waldmann, Director at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology and Professor of Organic Chemistry at the TU Dortmund University (Germany). His research interests lie in the syntheses of signal transduction modulators and the syntheses of natural product inspired compound libraries and their biological evaluation. He is a member of the Deutsche Akademie der Naturforscher Leopoldina and authored more than 500 scientific publications. The Nauta Chair appointment involves a plenary lecture and Nauta Master Classes on: “The Chemistry-Biology Interface: Merging Organic Chemistry and Biology to Inspire Drug Discovery” (Time: September 26 – 29, 2016, Location: VU University Amsterdam). Participation in Nauta Master Classes is free of charge but registration is required: http://www.formdesk.com/vuamsterdam/NautaChair2016.
News from the Biological and Medicinal Chemistry Sector (BMCS) of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC)
The BMCS is pleased to announce "Plugging the Antibiotics Gap: a medicinal chemist's perspective" that will take place on 16th November 2016 at Manchester Science Park, Alderley Park, Manchester, UK.
Synopsis:† Sustained under-investment in antimicrobials has led to a severe shortage of new drugs for treating infection. At a time when emerging antimicrobial resistance is decreasing the efficacy of existing treatments, it is more important than ever that we refresh the drug pipeline with new antimicrobials that act on new targets with novel modes of action.
Closing date for poster abstracts is 30th September
