RSC-BMCS Hall of Fame and Medal
The BMCS is pleased to announce the inauguration of The Hall of Fame and associated medal, to recognize prominent chemists for outstanding, sustained, and significant scientific impact, or contributions to any area of interest to the BMCS, e.g. medicinal chemistry, agriscience, bio-organic chemistry, chemical biology.
Nominations may be submitted by 30th September 2018
To be inducted in to the Hall of Fame, independent nominations should be submitted by e-mail outlining the justification and including the potential inductee’s CV and publication list. The nomination may be further bolstered by additional independent letters of support. Potential inductees should be resident in the continent of Europe or have spent a considerable proportion of their career there. There is no requirement to be an RSC or BMCS member. There are no age restrictions, and potential inductees may have an academic or industrial background.
Nominations may be submitted by 30th September 2018. The outcome will be communicated to nominators and potential inductees by mid-December 2018. Inductees will receive a medal and certificate and will be expected to give a plenary lecture at an appropriate BMCS organized conference.
Independent nominations should be sent by email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
7TH RSC / SCI SYMPOSIUM ON GPCRS IN MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY
10th to 12th September 2018, Aptuit, Verona, Italy
Synopsis: The key role of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) in human disease underpins their importance to modern medicine. This meeting on GPCR drug discovery, which will combine cutting edge medicinal chemistry with innovative structural biology and novel drug design approaches.
MACROCYCLES 2018 - 3RD RSC BMCS MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY SYMPOSIUM ON MACROCYCLES
8th to 9th October 2018, GlaxoSmithKline, Stevenage, UK
The call for poster abstracts will close on 8th August
Synopsis: The objective of this symposium is to promote scientific interaction between scientists with a shared interest in the field of Macrocycles. This area is responsible for a growing number of therapeutic approaches and development candidates, all of which go ‘beyond the rule-of–five’. As a researcher in this field, come along to hear about the latest advances and also to share in some of the secrets of discovering therapeutic agents which go beyond Lipinski’s rules.
RSC BMCS SYMPOSIUM: SYNTHESIS IN THE AGRI-SCIENCES
Tuesday 6th November, 2018 at 170 Queen’s Gate, Imperial College London, South Kensington Campus, SW7 5HF
Poster abstract submission deadline is 30th September 2018
SYNOPSIS: The objective of the meeting is to promote scientific interactions between academic and industrial researchers and to showcase the key role that synthesis plays in the discovery and development of new agrochemicals. New crop protection products are important to help overcome the huge challenges facing modern agriculture – To increase food production in a cost effective and sustainable manner, against a background of increasing population and decreasing farmland and water supplies, and loss of existing solutions due to resistance or regulatory pressures.
Posters are invited for display throughout the meeting and authors are encouraged to present their work in a two-minute flash presentation during the meeting. Please submit your abstract upon registration, by the 30th September 2018.
The event is FREE but spaces are limited and registration is required. Please register online (on a first come, first served basis) by the 7th October 2018.
